Exercise Inspiration and Motivation Tips

Affirmations:

Some dieters recommend saying positive affirmations to yourself - from once a day to 20 or more times a day - to encourage you and change your way of thinking from positive to negative. You can use some here or write some of your own. Click here to see a list of affirmations collected from web sites and fellow dieters.

General Tips to Get Started:

  • Use visualization daily: visualize yourself completing a great work out.
  • Take responsibility for your health and weight and shape; realize that exercise is part of achieving your goals.
  • Schedule, prepare and plan your exercise: make a regular appointment with yourself.
  • Set realistic goals.
  • Make exercise a top priority in your life.
  • Keep a daily exercise log.
  • Enjoy your workouts - think positive!
  • Don't feel guilty when you miss a session or two; negative feelings hinder motivation.
  • Believe in yourself and know that you can accomplish your goals!
  • Just get up and take a walk! Walk with a dog if you can, and notice how dogs are enthusiastic and happy and positive about the joy of walking! Try to learn from your dog.
  • Make rules for yourself. For example, if you enjoy a half-hour nightly t.v. show, make a rule that you can watch it only if you are exercising at the same time.
